Flitch Line – Rail Ale Trail 2023

If you are a fan of real ale then this specially designed trail is definitely for you. The journey will take in several traditional pubs near various stations along the way. An excellent choice of well-served cask ales will be available at every stop.

The Rail Ale Trail features 9 pubs recommended by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), which are along the Witham to Braintree train line and in walking distance of a train station. The perfect match, enjoy a glass of real ale and travel safely by train.

The Vine in Black Notley is no longer operating as a pub and is now a private venue for hire.  “ The Pub”  in Braintree is participating in the Flitch Ale trail as it is now a Wibblers Tap room with 6 – 8 Wibblers 

A valid ticket is required for your journey on the Flitch Train Line. This can be purchased in advance or on board. A return ticket will allow you to disembark the train and re-join as long as you continue in the same direction of travel. Please note the Flitch Line is a single track meaning trains may be less frequent than at other larger stations and will travel in both directions from the same platform. The Flitch Line and connecting services may be subject to engineering works and planned cancellations. It is vital you check for service disruptions, including for your return journey,before travelling.
