Family Days Out

The seafront plays host to incredible aerial displays, entertainment and attractions for two days in the summer. The beach and seafront are packed with onlookers and parking is not easy to find. Why not go by train and arrive in comfort.

Clacton’s sandy beach is a must for families throughout the summer, along the beach are various amusement arcades, but the pier is always a pull, with colourful games and rides and attractions like ten pin bowling, go karts, soft play and adventure golf. There is a Halloween Festival and Xmas at the pier every year

The beach in Frinton On Sea is the main draw for tourists, however when you have had enough of the sun and the sand why not head along Connaught Avenue to look in the boutique shops that line this road that leads all the way from the Station to the beach.

Great Notley Country Park covers some 100 acres of open space, which is managed for the benefit of wildlife and the community

Next to the Discovery Centre is the 86 foot octagonal Naze Tower, built in 1720 as a navigation mark for passing ships, it is now a gallery and museum with spectacular 360 degree views from the top

A 40 minute walk from the station North to the nature reserve and the Essex Wildlife Trust Nature Discovery Centre is a must for those who love being in nature. Fossil hunting and birdwatching as well as an informative centre with tea and cake.

Newly refurbished and with 5 acres of attractions under one roof and boasting the third longest pier in the country Walton Pier is only a few moments walk down the hill from the station and a great day out for the whole family

Walton on the Naze is a great place to visit by train as its only a 10 minutes walk to the beach. Its a wonderful beach for families to enjoy making sandcastles, paddling in the sea, listening to the waves.
