Station Spotlight: Harwich Town
Over the past year, the Harwich Town station adopters have made an extraordinary impact, transforming the station into a vibrant and welcoming space for the entire community. Their most notable achievement was the creation of the Railway 200 community garden, a once-neglected area now blooming with pollinator-friendly plants, seasonal flowers, and a peaceful seating area for passengers. This project, part of a £15,000 initiative celebrating 200 years of British railways, brought together the community to help design, plant, and maintain the garden.
Beyond the garden-scape, the adopters also installed photo boards showcasing Harwich’s rich railway heritage, adding an educational and visual dimension to the station. Their work has not only enhanced the physical environment but also fostered inclusion, pride, and a deeper connection between the station and its community.
