Station Spotlight: Sudbury

12 May 2026

Every month we select a station to showcase in order to celebrate the work carried out by our brilliant station adopters!

Sudbury Station is supported by a passionate team of local volunteers who have transformed the station into one of the most welcoming and wildlife‑friendly spaces on the rail network. The adopters work throughout the year to maintain the gardens, improve biodiversity, and create a brighter experience for everyone who uses the station.

What the Adopters Do

  • Wildlife‑friendly gardening — Volunteers plant pollinator‑friendly flowers, shrubs, and climbers that support bees, butterflies, and birds.
  • Habitat creation — Bug hotels, bird boxes, log piles, and hedgehog‑friendly areas help increase biodiversity around the station.
  • Seasonal planting — Colourful displays throughout the year make the station feel cared for and welcoming.
  • Station improvements — From new planters to small repairs and creative displays, adopters help keep the station looking its best.
