Hockley celebrations

29 September 2025

Hockley Station recently welcomed the community for a lively Railway 200 celebration, marking 200 years of railway heritage.

The station adopters organised an enjoyable afternoon featuring stalls selling locally handmade items and a detailed model railway layout.

A key moment was the unveiling of four specially designed posters created by pupils, showcasing their artistic take on railway history. Another highlight was the unveiling of two special plaques commemorating the occasion on the newly installed benches in one of the community gardens. The event was honoured by the presence of the Deputy Lord Lieutenant, adding a touch of ceremony to the occasion.

With a welcoming atmosphere and strong local support, the celebration highlighted the station’s role in connecting railways with their communities. It was a proud day for Hockley and a fitting tribute to the legacy of Britain’s railways.
