This week was the final train trip of the Greater Anglia Customer and Community Improvement funded ‘200 years, 200 journeys’, this time organised for the Colchester Bangladeshi Women’s Group.
They enjoyed a walk along the river Colne towards the estuary, learning about Wivenhoe’s boat building history. They also learnt about edible marsh plants such as Purslane, Sea Beet and Sea Spinach. Finally, they had a picnic in the spring sunshine in Wivenhoe Park before heading back to Colchester on the train from Wivenhoe!
