South Woodham Ferrers station

5 June 2024

A great morning yesterday at South Woodham Ferrers Station in Volunteering week, what a great way to celebrate the fabulous station adopters and all volunteers who give up their valuable time.

Bob,Angela,Freddie,Bernice,Ged,and Jenny were on hand to show us and other station adopters from around the network the great work they do at the station.  They have been volunteering over ten years now, the station couldn’t look better.

To add to the celebration Graham Pettitt was there to unveil his poem and artwork which now takes pride of place in the waiting room.  Graham is a conductor on Greater Anglia trains and in his time on the trains now thirty three years he takes in the beautiful country side on the train routes he works on.

The Crouch Valley line,  Wickford to Southminster is his favourite and he has now written several peoms and along with his photos, ESSCRP reproduced them into some lovely posters to be displayed at the station, with three posters in the history board at the front of the station, along with the one in the waiting room.

All finished off with a speech by Bob Barnes and Alan Whyld and home made cake / tea and coffee!
