Join us for a fabulous circular walk taking in the views over the River Crouch and returning via Woodham Fenn on 12 July 2022 setting off at 10:30

Starting from South Woodham Ferrers (SWF) train station at 10:30, the walk takes you from the centre of the village out to Clements Creek, following the sea wall beside the River Crouch and returning via Fenn Creek.

The walk will be directed, on behalf of the Essex and South Suffolk Community Rail Partnership, by a SWF station adopter who regularly walks the route.  Passing through Woodham Fen Nature Reserve, a site jointly managed by Essex Wildlife Trust and SWF town council, it offers both grassland and saltmarsh habitat of such quality the area is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest.   We may be lucky and get to spot a flash of blue as kingfishers hunt.  Maybe bring binoculars to spot the varied birds and wildlife that lives along the mudflats of the Crouch River.

Whilst it is free to attend this event, please reserve your place via our Eventbrite page so we can be aware of numbers

Departing from SWF station at 10:30am, the walk is approximately 6 miles and is expected to take 3 hours.  We will endeavour to return you by 13:30pm.  Bring a drink with you as there is limited opportunity for refreshment along the way.  Halfway round a welcome stop at SWF Yacht club has been arranged for anyone in need of a restroom.

Other than the start of the walk, which is along pavements, the majority is along uneven and unmade footpaths or atop of the sea wall.  The walk will take place whatever the weather.  Please dress appropriately for the weather and walking conditions.  Well behaved, friendly, sociable dogs are welcome if kept on a lead at all times.
